RUGADA implemented a project onĀ  community involvement in education funded by UPHOLD/USAID. The objectives of the project were;-

      • To increase parental and guardian involvement in children learning
      • To empower primary school children in influencing the quality of education of their own learning.
      • To strengthen community structures to support effective management of schools to improve education.
      • By the end of year 2 community schools partnerships for quality education should have been identified and some implemented
      • By end of year 2 schools and children who know about the national school health and nutrition policy and its components should be known and at least 60% of the population of school going children in selected sub-counties

The achievements of the were;-

      • Community involvement in 100 schools was established in the 7 selected sub-counties.
      • 400 teachers and 2 patrons in each school were trained in life skills.
      • 270 life skills clubs were established
      • 40 community and family dialogues volunteers were trained
      • 53 focus group discussions were carried out
      • Improving performances of the children

Rukungiri Gender and Development Association (RUGADA) was established in 1994. It is a registered rural-based Non-Government Organisation (NGO),non-profit making non-political charitable organisation with the mission to contribute to the improvement of the status of the less advantaged people of Rukungiri District. It is registered with the National Association of Women organisations of Uganda(NAWOU),Uganda Gender Resource Center, UWASNET .It is involved in the implementation several programs in Rukungiri District and surrounding districts.
